The sizes of the house…

Lately I have been wondering about a modern architecture of the houses. I really don’t understand why an average American family needs a such “big and toll” house, which looks like a cathedral with so much space, high ceiling, wide staircase. To clean a such house requires a special crew and a lot of time, not to mention a cost of maintenance(electricity, gas, water, etc). I believe it has nothing to do with convenience and even comfort of every day living, or being happy, but only with a desire to show off and look like celebrities, what is kind of silly and impractical. On another hand this ”style” is puting a great pressure on an environment and it already is firing back.

There is a long distance between a spoken word and the action. I believe even a child knows that. But what we see and hear now looks like high positioned grownups don’t understand that. There is a lot of talking and promising, but nothing has been done recently. As a citizen I would like to hear some real and practical proposals which every person could has participated in and done for his or her country. But now the majority is watching TV and waiting for magic to happen. Would you, please, give people the real tasks? It’s necessary in a such difficult time. Words don’t do much and can be forgotten. The action is a brick for building of anything.

The paradox of being frugal…

I have partially found the answer for my last question in an article by Justin Fox in Feb 23 issue of Time magazine. But the last paragraph still makes me keep on my “thinking-questioning cap”. I quote:

“Virtually all economists agree that there is no paradox of thrift in the long run.Saving stimulates investment.Careful stewardship of resources brings prosperity.Frugality is its own rewards. Just not right this second.”

Does anybody know when this”right second” come? What kind of a signal should we be looking forward?

About wasting…

From the beginning of my life in America /1993/ I was surprised by the abundance of everything and at the same time by attitude toward it. Indifference? The luck of appreciation? The careless? I really don’t know the name of it, but some things disgust me. The food fighting, for example. Every child knows how hard farmers work and how many people in the world have nothing to give their hungry children. But even grownups don’t put two and two together. What can we ask from children?! Is it necessary that every one should experience hunger to understand?And what kind of example we set by wasting so much:food, clothes,water, energy… You name it. Now we are trying “get green”, but only a small percentage of our population takes it seriously, most of us live as they use to, showing the greediness and wastefulness at the same time. That’s quite sad and dangerous.

If we want “a new deal” to work, we should revise our habits and and try our best in every little thing.

Promises… Responsibility… Results…

Everyone can promiss anything, taking the full responsibility, but if result doesn’t meet promises,just shrug the sholders and make some kind of guilty apprerance… “Sorry, it didn’t go how we planned… We really meant well!” Broken promises don’t weight too much. Broken hopes can brake a back… I wish it didn’t happen this time to us.

No one knows how much inner strength they have untill they spend it all.

I love the expression “We are on the same page” and now I’m trying to find people who share my point of view or give me a reason to cnange mine. I would appreciate commets.

If every person in this Great Country, and I mean EVERYONE, would work with such proffessional skills, responsibility and devotion as Mr.Chesley B.Sullenberger, Captain of the Flight 1549 US Airways,we would newer get in such mess, as we now do.

TV programms are trying to teach us how to survive in present difficult time being trifty, but at the same time convincing us to spend more money. How does it go together?

Mr.O’Railly has called a very prominent jurnalist “little old lady” what is rude and inadmissible.

Person’s body language can tell about him or her more then words. We should pay more attention to it, if we want to succeed in communication.
